The short version

I only ask for what I need to do the job, I don't sell your details to anyone, and I keep them no longer than I have to. The detail below is the formal bit, in plain English. Last updated 5 July 2026.

Who looks after your data

Binge Built is run by James Binge, a sole trader trading as Binge Built. For now, Binge Built trades by email rather than from a published business address. For anything about your data, email hello@bingebuilt.co.uk. I'm not yet registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The registration number will appear here as soon as it's issued, and I won't launch any tools that collect data for clients before it's in place.

What I collect

  • When you enquire (the form or email): your name, email address, mobile number, trade, town, your business name if you give one, and whatever you put in your message.
  • If you become a customer: the details needed to build and run your site and Google listing, plus billing details. Direct Debit is set up through GoCardless and any card payments through Stripe, so I don't hold your card or bank numbers myself.
  • When you visit this site: my host keeps basic, short-lived security and traffic logs. This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

Why I use it, and my lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and talk about the work: my legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
  • To build, run and look after your site, listing and billing: to perform our contract with you.
  • To meet tax and accounting duties: a legal obligation.
  • To send the odd update about your site or your bill: my legitimate interest in keeping you in the loop; never marketing unless you've asked for it.

Who I share it with

Only the suppliers needed to do the job, and only what they need: Cloudflare (hosting), Web3Forms (relays the contact form to my inbox), Proton (my email), my domain registrar, Google (your Business Profile), GoCardless (Direct Debit) and, where you take payments, Stripe. Some are based outside the UK; where they are, the transfer is covered by appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy or standard contractual clauses. I never sell your data and I never pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that go nowhere: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customer records: while you're a customer, then up to 6 years afterwards for tax and accounting (HMRC's requirement).
  • Anything a website feature collects (see below): only as long as that feature needs it, then cleared automatically.

Features on your own site that collect details

If your site has a tool that collects visitors' details (a contact form, a "ring me back", an RSVP or similar), those details belong to you, not me. You decide what's collected and why (in data-protection terms, you're the "controller"); I just run the tool on your behalf (the "processor"), under a short written agreement. Each such tool carries its own privacy notice and clears personal details automatically once they're no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask to see what I hold, have it corrected or deleted, ask me to pause using it, object to a use, or get a copy to take elsewhere. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it any time. Just email and I'll sort it, normally within a month and free of charge. There's no automated decision-making or profiling.

If you're not happy

Please tell me first and I'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Get in touch

Any questions about your data, email me and I'll answer plainly.
